I am a shameless fan of a park with clean bathrooms, and Denver does not disappoint. Right off Highway 16, you can trade the splash pad chaos of Beatty’s Ford for the quiet loop at Rock Springs, where the paper towels actually exist.

That range, from lakefront overachiever to honest neighborhood spot, is the whole story here. Rescue Squad’s playground is new, but the disc golf baskets have seen better days, so pick your priorities.

Grab a sweet tea from a gas station cooler and go judge some shade coverage for yourself. Here are the best parks in town, ranked by how much I wanted to stay.

I am a shameless fan of a park with clean bathrooms, and Rock Springs Nature Preserve delivers. Paper towels! Actual paper towels! The trail options are wonderfully varied, so I can do a quick loop or a longer wander. There's a playground for the small humans and a story walk that made me chuckle. The covered pavilion has shaded tables, which is perfect for when the sun gets personal. My dog appreciated the resting spots, though he's more of a 'lie down dramatically' type. This is a quiet, sensible park. It doesn't try to be a spectacle. It just is. And that is enough.

Highlights
Lake Norman waterfront setting
Splash pad and swim beach
Fishing pier and boat ramp
Covered picnic tables and grills
Clean, friendly, well-maintained facility

Beatty's Ford Park is the overachiever of the group. Lake Norman right there? Yes. A splash pad AND a swim beach? My inner child is already sweating. The fishing pier and boat ramp mean serious lake people have a home here. I sat under a covered picnic table with a grill nearby and felt an unreasonable amount of contentment. The whole place is clean and friendly, which I suspect is code for 'the staff actually cares.' It's well-maintained to an almost suspicious degree. If you like your parks with water features and a sense of civic pride, this one is a winner. I nearly forgot I was reviewing it for an article. Nearly.

Highlights
Renovated playground with new surfacing
Shade cover remains but seating limited
Disc golf course needs serious attention
Great spot for quiet neighborhood visits

Rescue Squad Park feels like the honest friend who tells you the truth. The renovated playground is fantastic, with new surfacing that makes me want to apologize for my adult sneakers. The shade cover remains, but seating is limited, so bring your own folding chair if you plan to linger. The disc golf course needs serious attention. I won't sugarcoat it; the baskets are tired. Still, for a quiet neighborhood visit, it's genuinely great. I saw exactly three people the whole time. That's my kind of crowd. It's not flashy, but it's real. Sometimes that's the best review I can give.
